Movie Review: The Imitation Game - Crítica de cine: Descifrando Enigma

Hi everyone!! Yesterday I watched "The Imitation Game" again and today I've decided to write about it. Cinema is one of the things I enjoy the most and every now and then I will write reviews about movies and series I consider.
"The Imitation Game" is a 2014 film (yes, it's a little late to write about it but I wanted to have it on this blog) set in the era of World War II that tells the story of a group of people who managed to break the code of the Enigma Machine. The film is mainly focused on the life of Alan Turing who led that group in Bletchley Park. In spite of not having comedy or action or big surprises in the plot, it's quite an entertaining film. It's almost two hours long and I didn't feel bored at any moment. The music, the photography, the story are really well developed. Besides, the cast is amazing: Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange in the MCU), Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean) and some others like Mark Strong, Matthew Goode or Charles Dance (none other than Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones).
For any person with interest in computers, puzzles, chess or cryptography I think this film is a must and for the rest, it is also quite recommendable. I know it probably has changed some historical details or omitted others to adapt it to a two-hours-long film but the main facts are very accurate.
Finally, I don't want to spoil more about the movie or explain it minute by minute but I do want to take a moment to recognize the incredible work that was done at Bletchley Park. I've done a little research (mostly Google + Wikipedia) and it's astonishing how they could build and decipher something as complex as the Enigma Machine with that technology. I remember how difficult it was for me to write code to solve any sudoku with modern computers (https://www.curiousruben.com/2019/11/how-not-to-solve-sudoku-como-no.html) and then I see the number of possible combinations Enigma could have and my mind simply blows up. To Alan Turing and his team: Thank You!

¡¡Hola a todos!! Ayer vi "Descifrando Enigma" otra vez y hoy he decidido escribir sobre eso. El cine es una de las cosas que más disfruto y de vez en cuando escribiré críticas sobre las películas y series que considere.
"Descifrando enigma" es una película del 2014 (sí, es un poco tarde para escribir sobre ella pero quería tener esto en el blog) ambientada en la Segunda Guerra Mundial que cuenta la historia de un grupo de personas que consiguieron descifrar el código de la máquina Enigma. El film está centrado principalmente en la vida de Alan Turing que lideró al grupo en Bletchley Park. A pesar de no tener comedia o acción o grandes sorpresas en el argumento, es una película bastante entretenida. Dura casi dos horas y no me aburrí en ningún momento. La música, la fotografía y la historia están realmente bien desarrolladas. Además, cuenta con un reparto de lujo: Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange en el UCM), Keira Knightley (Piratas del Caribe) y otros como Mark Strong, Matthew Goode o Charles Dance (no es otro que Tywin Lannister en Juego de Tronos).
Para cualquier persona con interés en ordenadores, puzzles, ajedrez o criptografía creo que la película es obligatoria y para el resto, también es bastante recomendable. Sé que probablemente ha cambiado algunos detalles históricos y omitido otros para adaptarlo a una película de dos horas pero los hechos principales son bastante correctos.
Finalmente, no quiero hacer spoilers de la película o explicarla minuto a minuto pero quiero tomar un momento para reconocer el increíble trabajo que se hizo en Bletchley Park. He investigado un poco (principalmente Google + Wikipedia) y es impresionante que pudieran construir y descifrar algo tan complejo como la máquina Enigma con esa tecnología. Recuerdo lo difícil que fue para mí escribir código para resolver cualquier sudoku con ordenadores modernos (https://www.curiousruben.com/2019/11/how-not-to-solve-sudoku-como-no.html) y luego veo el número de posibles combinaciones que podía tener la máquina Enigma y mi mente simplemente explota. A Alan Turing y su equipo: ¡Gracias!
